The Alaska Railroad is a Class II railroad that extends from Seward, in the south of the state of Alaska, in the United States, to Fairbanks, in the interior of that state. It carries both freight and passengers between those two cities and to many destinations between them, including Denali National Park. The railroad is 470 miles long.

You'll ride in comfortable restored and replica coaches pulled by vintage diesel locomotives. (Kids 3-12 pay half price for all fares.) It goes to the border, at 2,865 feet the highest point along the route, and returns to Skagway. Lake Bennett Excursion The railroad's longest excursion runs 80 miles from Skagway to Lake Bennett, British Columbia. The 8.5-hour trip, running Friday and Saturday only, costs $135 for adults.
